![]() The Slim Self cuts between 110-130 slices per minute. This machine is safe to use since the bread is placed safely inside before any cutting begins. Choose slice thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 25 mm using a handy touch screen. Its vertical cutting system takes much less space than a frame slicer. The Slim Self is a compact bread slicing machine. This type gives you blade lubrication for “sticky” bread. The Duro 600 can also be outfitted with a dual-slice feature and the Duro 450 is available in a “misch” version. It is offered in two different cutting widths (45 cm and 60 cm). It has a maximum capacity of 260 loaves per hour and is equipped with a horizontal slicing plate for maximum versatility. This option is JAC’s best-selling bread slicer. This machine has a maximum capacity of 200 loaves per hour. The New Self is mounted on wheels which make it easy to move from place to place inside a busy grocery store. It is easy to use and its locking covers make it a very safe machine. ![]() The New Self was designed to be used for self-service. The following are some examples: New Self Automatic Self-Service Slicer JAC carries several models of commercial bread slicing machines. Examples of Commercial Bread Slicing Machines from JAC In that instance, you may want to look at other factors, such as the size of the machine or user-friendliness. In a situation where you are operating a grocery store, you may not be certain how many customers will need sliced bread per day. Most models slice whole loaves at a time using manufacturer-set slice thicknesses, including 3/8, 7/16, 1/2' and 5/8, to name a few. If you have a very busy bakery, you may have an idea that you need a certain number of loaves of sliced bread per hour to fill orders. Besides selecting and loading the bread loaf, everything else is automatic: the machines slice to a specific thickness, and some even return the slicer to standby mode after the bread has been sliced. When looking at different models of bread slicers, one way to make a decision about which one to invest in is by looking at the number of loaves you need to slice per hour. How to Choose a Commercial Bread Slicing Machine For safety and liability reasons, you may only want employees using the slicing machines. ![]() Many slicing machines are easy to operate. Some stores have bread slicers available for customers to use themselves, while others are set up so that an employee looks after slicing the bread for customers on request. Customers can get anything from thick slices of Texas toast to thin slices of bread for the most delicate of tea sandwiches when they buy their bread from a bakery or a store equipped with a commercial bread slicing machine. Unfortunately, back in June the makers of Mailplane announced that they were letting the app die due to Google banning embedded browsers from Gmail. I’ve been using Mailplane as my email client for something like a decade. Mimestream is a Mac app reminiscent of Apple Mail, but it uses the Gmail API. Note: This story has not been updated since 2021. I love the ATP guys, I just thought their conversation was representative of many convos going on in the Apple tech space this week.Mimestream: A native Mac app with proper Gmail support ![]() Likewise, an app being native doesn't mean it will always been fast, lean, and reliable…the Music app for macOS says hello. Yeah, maybe an Electron app is going to be bad, but you should really use it and see how it's bad before jumping ship. Ultimately, I think that in a world where most people do the bulk of their work in a web browser and who need to be convinced why they should install another app, the argument over native vs non-native apps on the Mac is more academic than practical these days. But I also use Visual Studio Code, Slack, Obsidian, Figma, and 1Password 8 they're all Electron apps and they're all, in my opinion, pretty good or even great as well. I use Things and Nova and Sketch and Safari and Final Cut, all of which are widely considered to be great Mac apps and great macOS citizens. Like I said at the top, I personally prefer them most of the time, but while my colleagues' docks are basically Chrome or Safari and a couple other small apps, my dock is stacked with what I consider great apps. ![]() I think native apps on the desktop are just having a hard go of it in the past decade. This isn't me ragging on 1Password, it's genuinely one of my favorite apps, I'm simply pointing out that this buggy behavior is rightly identified as a bug, but I bet people would be saying this is "just how Electron is" if it was happening in the new app. Oh, and even in the most native part of the app, preferences, there's weird behavior around spacing and a mystery gap that has a hover state but does not seem to do anything. On this week's ATP episode, Casey Liss referred to 1Password 7 as a "Mac-assed Mac app," but what part of this UI is using Mac conventions or stock UI? It's all custom (something Marco did mention).įurther, how is the above image to dramatically more recognizable as a native Mac app compared to the new version?Ī kinda funny thing I didn't notice until I took the screenshots: people have mentioned Electron is the reason someone was able to get cut off text in the new app, but look at the search result counter in the 1Password 7 screenshot…it's cut off □ Things has custom everything, Reeder has an iPad-style interface, Craft's preferences window does not follow macOS conventions, and iStat Menus has some native-ish things with plenty of custom stuff too. Here's a screenshots from some a few popular native Mac apps: Clockwise from top left: Things, Reeder, iStat Menus, CraftĪll of those are great native Mac apps, but they're using custom UI elements all over the place. While I do sympathize with this, and the native controls are indeed easy to understand, I think we deify them a bit much and overestimate how many of our favorite Mac apps use them. One thing that comes up a lot when people complain about Electron apps is that they don't use standard system controls, which causes confusion. Love it or hate it, the web is not some fallback solution for a lot of people, it's the default. Design happens in Figma, and as far as I can tell, it's about half and half between people who have a bookmark and those who use the desktop app. Project management happens in a mix of Jira, Monday, and a few other apps, but we all use the browser for these. Document management happens in Google Docs, which could be installed as a PWA, but no one does. It often sounds like it is an inconvenience to have to install an app.Īnd it's not just email, almost everything we do has a native app, everyone just uses the browser. Windows or Mac user, it doesn't matter, email happens in Chrome (they do use apps on phones, of course) "Why would you get an app when you can do this one their site?" is a common type of question I get. ![]() Literally no one else I've talked to uses a native email app on their work computer. This revelation surprises a lot of people at my work. I use it because I like doing email in an app, not a browser. It's fast, minimal, and supports notifications for new messages. I use a Mac app called Mimestream at work to manage my email. ![]() Cherie's name is pronounced differently in Season 7.Cherie bears a striking appearance with her bonded fairy. In Season 6, she replaces Tune as Musa's bonded pixie for unknown reasons. In the Nickelodeon version, she and Musa are both voiced by Romi Dames. ![]()
